Miss Representation

Have you seen this?  It is currently being shared among several of my friends on Facebook.  Take a look…

What are your reactions?
I have an amazing group of girls in my youth group who are leaders among their friends, peers in the classroom, on their extracurricular teams, and in the community.  As we see in the video, media has a strong influence on the actions and behaviors of young women.  But what are the messages we are teaching them? Young women are hungry for positive mentors, not to teach them about what to wear but to walk alongside them through the joys and challenges of their lives and to assure them that they are wonderfully and beautifully created in Christ’s image.  How are we, as people of faith, equipped to accompany young women through this chapter of their lives? How can we share God’s grace and love with them so that they can bear Christ’s light in the world?

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”  -1 Timothy 4:12
